Sometime this summer, I emailed a bunch of musically-inclined people in the community to take part in a music project I was putting together called “UCB Record Club.” It was inspired by the fantastic Beck’s Record Club, which was “an informal meeting of various musicians to record [i.e. cover] an album in a day.” More:
The album chosen to be reinterpreted is used as a framework. Nothing is rehearsed or arranged ahead of time. […] The songs are rough renditions, often first takes that document what happened over the course of a day as opposed to a polished rendering. There is no intention to ‘add to’ the original work or attempt to recreate the power of the original recording. Only to play music and document what happens. So basically, this was all for fun.
A bunch of us got together in late September and actually did this. We recorded 6 songs from the 1998 compilation MASTERPIECE Now That’s What I Call Music Vol. 1. We didn’t finish the entire album (we only recorded 6 songs) and we made a loud mess, but it was a blast and we plan to do this again soon.

Achilles set up this amazing project and then, I assume, spent many hours splicing together usable takes of my guitar...
